My father Ralph Albert Bury was named after his grandfather Albert Edward a Marine Engineer who sailed on the Great Lakes for over thirty years and Ralph DePalma the race car driver. When my grandfather Charles came up with this name he was more than a race fan. He was sitting in the seat next to Mr. DePalma in the first Indianapolis 500 race held in 1911.

* Another story of the power of the internet.
The top photo was sent to me by my cousin Philip Schwarz whom I have never met. He and I were born a month apart. He is the son of my fathers sister Marjorie and grew up in the Eastern United States. My father who was raised in New York City and Cleveland Ohio met my mother while he and his brothers were in a CCC camp during the depression and she was teaching in a one room schoolhouse in Agnes Oregon. I was born in Cleveland but we moved west to Oregon two years after my birth and I lost contact with my relatives in the East. Then recently I received an email from Philip. Seems he was searching the internet for some genealogy information and ran across my web site.
As a result of this genealogy fever I had made contact with my cousins Robert, Andrea and Donalee who I also had lost contact with over the years.
Finally found Dale after he called up my brother Jim.
Our grandfather hasn't been with us for many years but these pictures of him at the first 500 mile race in Indianapolis in 1911 are here for the enjoyment of all who visit and especially for my extended family of Bury's, wherever you are......
